About

Australia’s highly acclaimed Australia Independent Film Festival is back bigger and better this October. Located in Brisbane Australia at one of Australia’s coolest venues within one of Brisbane’s coolest art precincts is the internationally recognised Australia Independent Film Festival.

Including a mixture of local, national, international and world premieres, festival attendees will enjoy a fully curated program of stela short form documentaries, animations, experimental, and drama films. There is sure to be something that pleases everyone. The festival also welcomes the return of the SEQ Future Stars, a special program and awards ceremony exclusively for high school students from South-East-Queensland.

Sessions

Session 1: Around the World (Screening)
Friday 25 October, 7pm - 9:30pm
Recommended for Ages 18+. May contain sex scenes, depictions of drug use, violence, strobe lighting effects, coarse language and adult themes.

Session 2: SEQ Future Stars (Screening + Awards)
Saturday 26 October, 11am - 1:30pm
Recommended for ages 15+. May contain violence, mature themes and strobe lighting effects. Parents and guardians attending with children under the age of 15, are encouraged to find out more about the content in a film before deciding whether it is suitable for a child in their care by contacting AIFF.  

Session 3: The Sofa Session (Screening)
Saturday 26 October, 2pm - 3pm
Suitable for all ages. Films may have content that may scare very young children, and may contain strobe lighting effects.  

Session 4: Keeping It Real (Screening)
Saturday 26 October, 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Recommended for ages 15+. May contain violence, mature themes and strobe lighting effects. Parents and guardians attending with children under the age of 15, are encouraged to find out more about the content in a film before deciding whether it is suitable for a child in their care by contacting AIFF.  

Session 5: Home Grown Australian Shorts + Award Ceremony (Screening + Awards)
Saturday 26 October, 6pm - 9:30pm
Recommended for ages 18+. May contain sex scenes, depictions of drug use, violence, strobe lighting effects, coarse language and adult themes. 


Accessibility Note

Metro Arts' New Benner Theatre is wheelchair accessible. For tickets for patrons in a wheelchair, with accessibility needs and/or Companion Card holders, please call Metro Arts on 07 3002 7100 Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm to enquire or make your booking.
