An introspective and playful exploration of identity; rooted in Filipino tradition, living the queer immigrant experience - halata.

Embodying the Filipino philosophy, ‘Bahala Na’, Bahala/o is a 1hr duet performance of dance, theatre and everything in between to explore cultural hybridity, duality and the fluidity of identity. Two distinct performers, one pedestal fan and a whole lot of questions, all set in a dream-like rice world.

From independent Filipino-Australian artist, Buddy Malbasias, Bahala/o transcends traditional performance, weaving deeply personal narratives and broader cultural reflections. This evocative new work invites audiences to explore the dualities of existence, illuminating the complexities of living between worlds while embodying the enduring spirit of Bahala Na.
